My Most Memorable Horse Experience
"We need the hat and then we're done," my mom said pushing
the cart through Michaels.
"Okay, I'll go get it, go in line so were not late!" I said
impatiently, eager to get out of that store.
My mom soon popped herself into the drivers' seat and turned the key.
As soon as we arrived at the farm for the Halloween Gymkhana, I saw
seven girls getting their ponies ready for the costume contest.
"Mom, come on! Let's go!" I said with a grin from ear to
ear, rushing over to Brownie's stall.
My mom came in with four huge bags full of costumes. I walked down
to the end of the barn where Brownie was; I opened the stall door and
slid his blue halter on. My mom wrapped his legs with red white and
blue wraps, while I spray painted his tail white. The aerosol can sprayed
out making a sound like a snake and spooked all the horses in the barn.
All the kids were wondering what we were dressing up as. We took out
the stencils and started painting stars all over him and put his hat
on and his white beard and hair.
Then we got my sea foam green dress and hat out and I slid it on quickly.
We put the book in my hand and the torch in my other.
"Our judge has arrived Are you guys ready to go?" asked my
trainer eager to see what my costume was.
"Yeah, we're ready!" I said grabbing the lead rope connected
to Brownie.
I led him out of his stall while eyes were fixed on me and him and
our beyond amazing costumes. We walked down the hill, and my mom threw
me onto Brownie's back. I heard many people whispering to one another.
"Who's that," said a rider, tacking up.
"Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty!" said a girl enthusiastically.
My smile suddenly grew bigger than ever, I had the best looking costume
and the best pony ever. Compliments were flying out of everyone's mouths
every few minutes. The votes were in, and we lined up and waited
for the moment when we would find out who would win!
"And the winner is..."the
barn owner said building up the suspense.
"...Caroline and Brownie Point, as Statue of Liberty and Uncle
Sam! Congratulations, and well done to you all!"
